Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if Anchor is the right place for me?
To be honest, you won’t know until you reach out and try it. With any therapeutic relationship, there’s a period of time devoted to building trust and confidence in the counseling process. If you’re looking for overnight success, than Anchor might not be the right place for you. We’re looking to work with people who are ready or at the least don’t mind being challenged to get ready to do the work. Besides, let’s not spin our wheels stressing over whether or not Anchor is for you. Give us a call and let us figure it out together.
How do I get started with Anchor?
I’m glad you asked and we can’t be any happier to help you get started. Please give us a call to schedule your first free phone consultation. After leaving a message or submitting an electronic request via this site, we’ll get back to you within 24 hours and offer you our next available counseling session.
Why Mobile Counseling?
Mobile counseling offers the accessibility, affordability and dependability of counseling on your terms. Anchor strives to offer flexible hours and expand the counseling experience outside of the four walls of an office. Whether it be your work site, home, school or community, we are devoted to ensuring your therapeutic comfort while upholding the utmost ethical and HIPAA standards. Picture us sitting seaside on a sunny day, sipping on coffee in a local coffee shop or in the comfort of your living room.
How do I prepare and what should I expect for my first Anchor session?
Leave all the preparation to us. Feel free to bring copies of any previous assessments etc. No worries, if you can’t locate them. We’ll figure that out later. In the first session, we’ll complete a few forms and start the gathering of a detailed assessment of your presenting needs, wants and desires. Unlike traditional therapy, Anchor isn’t confined to a particular process or bogged down with a trillion enrollment forms and insurance authorizations. Anchor is truly designed just for you!
Do you accept insurance?
Self-Pay and Insurance Coverage Plans for Telemental Health and Traditional Office Visit Services. Accepted insurances: Anthem, Optima, United Healthcare, Cigna, Commercial Magellan, and Medicaid (Straight, Anthem, Optima).
What forms of payment do you accept?
Anchor accepts insurance (see above), cash, check and credit card payments. All payments are due in advance of services. Anchor is an approved Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) provider via your local Department of Human Services. You are encouraged to seek funding through this viable community resource, as you may be eligible for other services.
How much is my financial investment in me?
Anchor is currently accepting self-pay hourly and insurance based (traditional office/telehealth sessions only) payment options. Additional travel costs may apply for mobile sessions outside of Hampton, Newport News, Yorktown and Williamsburg, Virginia. Consultation packages are available upon request. Insurance copays and provider rates are set by the insurance and verified prior to each session.
What if I’m located outside of Anchor’s travel area?
Anchor is fully devoted to optimizing all available means of communication to include face-to-face, telephone, one-to-one, small and large groups, mobile and virtual. Special packages are available for services that require travel outside of Anchor’s area. Let us know what you need and we’ll work it out.
